Make Your Content Accessible to Everyone

Tips for Creating Accessible Audio person on laptop with headphones

When you ensure your podcast is accessible to all, it not only helps folks with disabilities. Accessibility also ensures your podcast reaches your widest audience.

Consider these audio tips:

  • Speak clearly and slowly
  • Avoid talking over others
  • Record in a quiet space
  • Avoid jargon and acronyms

Transcripts:

  • Provide transcripts of your audio
    • You can use software tools like the Zoom or Kaltura, or other third-party software like Otter.ai or Descript
  • Upload them alongside your podcast when sharing online

Other Best Practices for Podcasting

  • Only use royalty-free or Creative Commons music. Free Music Archive is a great resource, and there are more out there!
  • If doing an interview-style podcast, consider your guests the experts and let them do most of the talking
