Interlibrary Loan

Search the Library's Resources First!

Before you place your request, verify the item is not available in the library catalog or databases. 

If you are looking for a particular book or book chapter, search the URSUS and MaineCat catalog for the title of the book.

If you are searching for a particular journal for a specific article, go to the UMA Libraries website and click the Databases/Journals tab to search by title of the journal.

Please note:  we do not fill requests for textbooks.  Most academic libraries do not include textbooks in their collections or they do not loan them to other institutions.

How to submit an ILL request

Login to your ILL account here. 

Click "Create Request."

Choose "Article" or "Book."

On the request form:

  • Fill in all required fields on the request form (required fields are marked with an asterisk *). Any extra information makes it easier to process your request, so please add any further details in the appropriate fields and take advantage of the Note field.
  • In the patron ID field enter your status: Student, Faculty, or Staff.
  • Click "Submit Request" to complete your request.
