UMA Archives & Special Collections

This resource guide contains information about our new institutional archive.

About

In celebration of UMA's 60th Anniversary, the UMA Libraries have decided to establish an Archives and Special Collections, in order to preserve the history of UMA and celebrate all of the people who made and continue to make this university so special. This project began in the summer of 2024, and we are currently in the process of collecting materials from across the university. Our mission is to make this archive accessible to the public and the UMA community, both physically and digitally. While the scope of this archive is currently limited to UMA-related items, the UMA Libraries hope we will be able to expand this collection to house other works and special collections.

To learn more about this project, check out our Collection Development Policy.

Contribute

Do you have a piece of UMA's history that you would like to contribute? We would love to talk to you about it! Please fill out this form so we can learn more about your contribution and follow-up with you.

Not sure if what you have is what we're looking for? Contact us at uma.library@maine.edu with "Archives Question" as the subject heading.

Using the Archives

The UMA is currently in the process of making the archives accessible to the UMA community and the general public and we hope to have a system in place to access the archives by 2026. If you are interested in learning more about the archives or have any questions, please contact us at uma.library@maine.edu.
