Outline for Music-related Classification System
At UMA we use the Library of Congress (LC) classification system. The system uses both letters and numbers to organize books and music by topic or subject, and the categories related to Music are:
M = Music (Printed scores and sheet music)
ML = Literature on Music (Musicology, biographies of musicians, etc.)
MT = Instruction and Study (Music theory and methods, practice guides, etc.)
