ENG 301 - History of the English Language

A good dictionary is a reference work that you should have as a matter of course. A paperback edition is fine, and most computer operating systems also have dictionaries built in. Here are some resources that are available to you online or in print, either through UMA Libraries or freely on the web.

• Urban Dictionary - a crowd-sourced compendium of English language idiom and slang (user discretion is advised)
